Working with contractors to enhance their projects.

How do Contractors benefit from 3D Laser Scanning, Topography and Photogrammetry ?

Contractors across the country have been increasingly adopting laser scanning and drone services as an integral part of their workflows. This technology allows for more accurate and efficient project planning, design, and construction processes. By leveraging laser scanning, contractors can reduce errors by monitoring construction progress, generate accurate existing conditions documentation when starting a project, and verify successful construction through various inspection reports.

Applications of 3D scanning for Contractors include:

Having the most up to date measurements is essential to securing the efficient remodel process, as architecture and construction companies commonly find the existing conditions of a structure often do not reflect the most current Revit or CAD model
Construction progress monitoring

Using drone photogrammetry a mesh or an orthomosaic photo can be captured during the construction process. This will allow contractors to “fly through” a 3D representation of the job or view a high-resolution overhead photo and closely inspect the construction progress.

Architects determined to get every detail right often find themselves returning to sites again and again to take one more measurement or to get one more photo
Existing Conditions Documentation

Having the most up to date measurements is essential to securing an efficient construction process. Scanning a site before beginning a project will ensure that all the members of the project will have the most up to date information and will verify if a desired project is spatially able to be completed.

Additionally a high-quality point cloud or photogrammetry mesh can be captured during the construction process and aligned with a model to effectively monitor building progress
Seamless integration

Our point clouds integrate with leading architectural software like AutoCAD, Revit, or Civil 3D. Simply import the provided point cloud directly into the software.

Having a building laser scanned will provide a 3D point cloud. This cloud is a visual tool that can be “flown through” to visualize the asset. This can be utilized in board meetings or other decision-making processes.
Floor Flatness / Wall plumbness Report

Once constructed, the floors and walls of a project can be laser scanned to ensure flatness or plumbness. Contractors can use this report to detect floor and concrete irregularities and identify any deviations from the specified flatness and levelness criteria. By utilizing this information, contractors can make informed decisions on necessary corrections or adjustments to ensure compliance with industry standards, before problems arise.
